The Trident - Cable Knitting Pattern

 The Trident that is Ukraine's coat of armor as a cable knitting chart.







  • The chart is 24 sts wide, to knit it into a sock, it needs to be a knitted toe up.
  • It's suitable for mittens and hats as well. Just replace 24 sts of plain stockinette with this chart.
  • If you want to knit it in two colors, knit all the knit stitches in one color and all the purl stitches in another.


Stitch Glossary

Shadow Wrap & Turn R: Lift the st below the next st onto left hand needle, work that st, sl 1, with yarn at back, turn.
ktog w 4rows down: Knit together with the back of the sts 4 rows bellow
2/2/2 LCP: Slip next 4 stitches to cable needle and place at front of work, p2, slip the 2 sts most left on the cable needle onto left hand needle, k2, then k2 from cable needle.
Shadow Wrap & Turn L: Sl1, with your left hand needle pick up the st below, work it on you right hand needle, slip it back to left hand needle. Hold yarn back and turn.
2/2/2 RCP: Slip next 4 stitches to cable needle and place at back of work, k2, with your working needle pick up the 2 most right sts from the cable needle and slip them onto left hand needle, k2 from cable needle, p2.
grey no stitch: No stitch.
k2tog: Knit 2 stitches together.
knit: Knit.
m1 purlwise: Increase a stitch purlwise.
purl: Purl.
slip: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn at back.
ssk: Slip, slip, knit.
2/1 LPC : Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and place at front of work, p1, then k2 from cable needle.
2/1 RPC: Slip next stitch to cable needle and place at back of work, k2, then p1 from cable needle.
2/2 LPC: Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and place at front of work, p2, then k2 from cable needle.
2/2 RPC: Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and place at back of work, k2, then p2 from cable needle.
left-leaning lifted increase: Work next stitch, then lift stitch 2 rows below the stitch just worked onto left-hand needle and knit it.
right-leaning lifted increase: Lift stitch below the next stitch to be worked onto left-hand needle and knit it. Then work next stitch.

  1. Thanks! Knitting into a hat but had to replace the shadow W&T with regular as I just couldn't get to work out. Will post picture of finished hat on Ravelry.
